SFLm Heads SOUTH for Season 13!
ARTICLE BY ELI DEIOMES | SFLm Commissioner
the sflm is heading back to the deep south!
Every organization starts somewhere.
Some begin with a logo. Some begin with a roster.
The newest addition to the SFLm began with a vision.
The SFLm is proud to officially welcome the Mississippi Generals as the newest franchise set to join the league for Season 13.
Representing the Magnolia State, the Generals arrive with an identity that's already well established. Built around leadership, discipline and Southern football culture, the organization isn't just looking to field a competitive team—they're looking to build something that lasts.
More Than a Team
Owned by Chris Porter and Aquantis Shyne, with Joshua Williams serving as General Manager, the Generals enter the SFLm with a philosophy that's summed up in four simple words:
Lead From The Front.
For Porter, those aren't simply words on a banner. They're the foundation of the organization.
Drawing on his experience as a United States Marine Corps veteran, alongside years spent building communities through sports media and content creation, Porter wants the Mississippi Generals to become more than just another football team.
He wants to build a place that players are proud to represent.
That culture-first mindset can already be seen throughout the organization. Discipline. Accountability. Professionalism. Football IQ. Player development. Those values aren't being introduced later; they're the starting point.
On the field, fans can expect:
• A brand of football that reflects that identity.
• A balanced offense built around efficiency, ball security and a strong play-action game.
• An aggressive defense that looks to dictate the pace rather than react to it.
Smart football. Physical football. Team football.
A Brand with Purpose
Away from the field, just as much thought has gone into building the franchise itself.
Inspired by the modern Mississippi state flag, the Generals' navy, crimson, gold and white colour palette gives the organization a bold identity that proudly represents its home state. Plans for SEC-inspired game day traditions, military flyovers and "The Battalion" supporter section all point toward an atmosphere built on energy, pride and community.
Leading that charge will be General Steel.
More than a mascot, General Steel represents everything the organization hopes to embody—leadership, resilience, toughness and unity. He'll stand at the front of the fanbase, leading supporters each game day as the Generals begin writing their story in the SFLm.
The organization also plans to lean into Porter's experience in media through the PoPolitickin network, producing consistent content and storytelling that allows fans to connect with the team long before kickoff.
Looking Ahead to Season 13
Every expansion team starts with questions.
How will the roster take shape? Who will become the faces of the franchise? Which rivalries will emerge?
For the Mississippi Generals, those answers will come in time.
What already exists is something every successful organization needs before the first snap is ever taken: a vision.
One grounded in leadership, accountability, and one committed to representing Mississippi with pride.
As preparations for SFLm Season 13 continue, we are beyond excited to welcome the Mississippi Generals to our growing family of organizations.
A new chapter begins in the Magnolia State, and if the Generals have anything to say about it, they'll do exactly as their motto promises.
What Comes Next?
