SFL YouTube to become Virtual Football Network starting 11/18
The Simulation Football League is rebranding its channel to the Virtual Football Network starting Monday November 18, after the highly-anticipated Season 23 Championship between the Mexico City Aztecs and Canton Classics on Sunday November 17.
This move will allow the channel to expand into other football titles, other leagues and to collaborate with others in the space over time - widening the base of subscribers and content offerings, better positioning the channel to expand onto other platforms outside of YouTube and Twitch to garner further exposure.
The SFL YouTube channel has racked up over 8,000 subscribers over the last handful of years, which ranks in the top 2% of all channels on the platform.
"We have accomplished a lot over the years, but the world is ever-changing and its important to diversify our offerings," said SFL Commissioner Cameron Irvine. "The financial boom over OTT (over-the-top) and esports start ups outside of our league has bust and only the elite media companies have live streaming channels and offerings - we're not living in a COVID or post-COVID world any longer and we have to adjust. It's up to us to compete and better position ourselves to compete in a challenging space."
Outside of the name, SFL subscribers will notice no difference in the amount of SFL content offerings on the channel.
The brand was designed by Zilligen Design Studio. A football with laces fills the empty space in the V, while the laces double as radio waves. The V stands for virtual, but also represents victory and valor represented in all competitions. The color 'electric yellow' evokes speed and the vibrancy of a new era in virtual sports broadcasting.
The Virtual Football Network's initial offerings will include the YOUFL, Simulation Football League, the SFL minor league and College Football 25 online dynasty competitions, with more partnerships to be announced soon.
