SFL Power Rankings: Next Man Up
It feels like I just took an extended vacation as I don’t even know what week it is anymore. The top 2 in Houston & Vancouver are holding form, DC continues to falter down the stretch and Pitt is quickly going from darkhorse to contender as the weeks go by and the wins keeps piling up.
voting breakdown
A lot of inactive voters this week as 10 humans and a formula show up to vote. I’m curious to see how Denver fares in the playoffs as the formulas are still holding them at the cut line for playoffs. I can say that again for DC as they are on a two game losing streak and have fallen below the cut line. As we enter these later stages of the season the rankings are going to begin to look very similar across the board and that’s what I’m seeing here. A few rankings flipped here and there but mainly similar placements.
mid east division
#14 Florida Storm (3-4)
The East Division has generally been known to be dominated by Florida but the race to the title has also always been good entertainment. We’ve had Atlanta in the past make some runs and Charleston push for glory or just recently when Carolina put it all together and dethroned Florida for the Eastern title. But now? Atlanta & Nashville have folded, Carolina is embracing the suck again, Charleston’s yayo experiment is not as pure cut as they would’ve hoped, Lexington is Tulsa and Florida is leading by a half game at 3-4 and is only in the playoffs today because they’re a division leader. It looks to me like the East will send only one team again this season and it’ll be the same result as last season; out in the Wildcard.
week 11 premier matchup
#7 Arizona Scorpions @ #11 Sin City Samurai(-2.5) | O/U 44.5 | Sept. 26th 8:00 PM EST
We’ve got two West Division teams on the docket this week as both are looking to keep up the pressure on the leading Vancouver. Sin City has yet to play the Legion and so they can still have a shot at holding the H2H tiebreaker and possibly usurp them as the season comes to a close. Arizona has already lost a close battle to Vancouver but their schedule is a bit more forgiving than the Legion’s and with a win here would match their win total thru 11 weeks and start hoping for a few losses to start making up the ground. The Samurai are on a two game streak coming into this game and on the all-time series between these two teams as they’ve outscored the Scorpions in the previous two games 46-17. Can the Scorpion offense come alive down one of their top tackles and a WR? Can their defense slow down Sin City who is coming off a 52 point performance against DC? QB Ashley Jackson has seen an uptick in interceptions recently and if she and Arizona want to even the series they will need to keep the turnovers to a minimum. We’re in for a nailbiter for the Week 11 opener.
