SFL Power Rankings: Good Wins or Just Win?
Alright, hopefully the website doesn’t give me any grief this week when I try to upload images because we have a tie up at the top of the list and two teams on the outside looking in that are usually near the top. Along with Denver continuing to rise despite their detractors and Queen City looking to make some noise in the postseason as a top 10 team; I’m ready for a wild finish down the final stretch!
voting breakdown
I think we’ve just about made it to the point where I run out of things to say here and the rankings start to condense down to uniformity. Outside of Strength Rating keeping Queen City near the bottom and Brett continuing his personal vendetta against Denver there’s not much else to say here that sticks out to me. What do you see? Let us know!
piracy and parity
#10 Queen City Corsairs (6-4)
If you were checking the discord you saw that last week’s QCC vs Pitt matchup was our Premier Matchup last week and I’m here to say we nailed it. 50 points scored in the 4th quarter alone in a game that finished 45-42 and gave Queen City their sixth win in what should be the biggest turnaround in league history after going 0-12 in Season 23. Coming into Week 11 with 6 wins usually means you’re in the top half of the standings but with a backloaded bye schedule and a new wave of parity across the league the Corsairs are sitting in 11th going into the week and have a bye week to catch their breath and put their best foot forward in their quest for postseason play. The D.C. Dragons are the next team up for them and that one may be too tough to get win number 7 but a struggling Chicago is just the sort of thing you want to see when you need one more win.
week 11 premier matchup
#15 Atlanta Swarm @ #7 Denver Nightwings(-4.5) | O/U 38.5 | MAR. 16th 6:45 PM EDT
Atlanta is back and ranked for the first time since Week 2 and has just the sort of game ahead of them that can solidify themselves as a cut above the rest as the crowd of teams towards the bottom of the playoff picture seems to grow each week. The Swarm are on a two game win streak but also their best win was against DC back in Week 6; they need to get good wins to bolster their SOV down this final stretch or risk being left out even if they can get to 7-5. Denver, on the other hand, come into this game off a close but notable win at Minnesota where they took control of the Central division and now hold the all-important head-to-head tiebreaker over the Legend. The Nightwings have similar issues as Atlanta does where their resume is a bit on the weaker side but, unlike the Swarm, they have a realistic shot at taking the division title and with it can secure an automatic berth and not have to worry while on their Week 15 bye. We’ve got two teams looking to make a statement and a late push to glory. I expect a dogfight.
