SFL Power Rankings: Burning Questions

The South is rising and the North looks like it has been flipped on its head while the leaders of the West sit back and watch the chaos unfold. The SFL is in full swing as we begin to reach the midway point on a season that feels like started yesterday. Is this the season that DC beats Baltimore and dominates the North? Is it finally Houston’s turn to win the South? Is Sam Blotner okay? Let’s see what the panel thinks.

voting breakdown

And the survey says….kinda sorta. Bossier City fell from 5 to 6 so that’s progress. Chicago is a bit low compared to the rest of the panel. I’m just glad I have content to report on in this section. I figured Strength Rating was going to turn head with Pitt at 5 but that’s close to where they ended up in the aggregate so it might actually be that it held Chicago down at 10. Eddie loves Arizona so much he has them the lowest out of the 16 voters this week. Brett has lost his title as #1 Denver hater as well. Here’s to hoping for some drama in the top 3 this time next week.

bye week blues

#6 Chicago Warriors (3-2) & #7 Pittsburgh Riverhogs (3-2)

As I was filling out and updating the Top 16 graphic I was hoping to see a juicy matchup to highlight for the newcomers into the top 10 as they push towards top 5 and then I look down the list and I see neither team on the docket. Two teams on the rise and two byes. Unfortunate. And as you’d see above the teams below them have their own primetime games and so I wouldn’t be surprised to see them fall back a bit and lose some ground after the big pop. Chicago comes back to @ OKC & vs LAL for a very realistic shot at 5-2 before traveling to #13 Denver in a game that might begin to decide the Central. Pitt, on the other hand, travels to #11 Baltimore before a three game homestand vs #2 DC, Queen City & LA which will clear out their remaining North division games and show everyone and themselves who they are this season.

week 7 premier matchup

#1 Vancouver Legion(-2.5) @ #3 Houston Headhunters | O/U 45.5 | Aug. 22nd 8:00 PM EST

I don’t know what more I can say about Houston after they locked Arizona down, albeit their #1 WR in Highwind did go down early, and looked as potent as I’ve ever seen them in the 4k23 era. But then there’s Vancouver who has been on a tear for two seasons now and looks just as unstoppable as ever. In the name of that buzzword parity, I say we enter Week 8 with no undefeated teams as Houston comes out swinging; lead by a KR TD by Sim. Houston wins 23-21.
