SFL Owners Approve Season 26 Rule Changes
The Simulation Football League in cooperation with its 21 teams made efforts to improve on-the-field gameplay for Season 26 and beyond, approving four new rule changes and reinforced two rules staying the same:
- Ban the addition of 3 man stunts in 4-man front base books
**PASSED** with 66.7% of the vote
- If a team's playbook involves an empty formation with 2 or less WRs, that playbook must have at least one other formation with the same personnel package that employs a RB/FB in the backfield, to limit the calling of the empty formation.
**PASSED** with 57.1% of the vote
- Eliminate a run minimum in formations and create a pass target rule, with the same punishments of the carry rule for players with stamina. A receiving target can have no more than 15 targets in a victory (this eliminates the issue of massive target share when down big). This helps ensure diversity of play and the importance of some type of run threat without restricting formation usage
**PASSED** with 52.4% of the vote
- Turn injuries off during the playoffs. Nothing worse than having a subpar game due to a key player getting injured
**PASSED** with 52.4% of the vote
- We have no issue with teams filling lesser-called formations with more than 15 plays
**RULE REMAINS THE SAME** with 61.9% of the vote.
- We feel the playbook restriction should remain, prioritizing team identities and scouting over the element of variety and surprise
**RULE REMAINS THE SAME**, 57.1% of the vote
