Quarterfinals Preview: Why you should watch

The Quarterfinals are here and start in Fort Worth where the undefeated Toros host Cinderella Charleston Saturday November 11 at 6:30 pm ET. Every matchup has intrigue and here are some reasons why these could be some of the biggest moments in league history:

Saturday November 11, 6:30 pm ET: No. 11 Charleston (7-6) at No. 1 Fort Worth (12-0)

If the Predators win, they would easily become the highest seed to ever reach a SFL Semifinals - only as high as No. 7 has ever advanced passed the Quarterfinal round. The last No. 1 seed to lose a Quarterfinal game was when the league was divided into two conferences in Season 9: The No. 1 seed in the East, Tallahassee, was surprised by No. 4 Atlanta in a 38-13 stunner. 

Fort Worth is 1-1 all-time in the Quarterfinals, both times facing Vancouver. The Toros and Preds have only met three times and never in the playoffs. The last time Charleston beat Fort Worth was back in the Toros' inaugural season - Season 15. In Charleston's entire 12 season franchise history, the team has never won two playoff games in the same season ... neither has Fort Worth.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 11, 9:00 PM ET: NO. 10 SAN DIEGO (8-5) AT NO. 2 FLORIDA (10-2)

These two teams have an interesting history. Optimus Cline, the current President in Florida, previously owned San Diego for the first four seasons of its fledgling existence. During that time, the Mavericks beat the Storm twice and similar to our first Quarterfinal of the weekend, the last time Florida topped San Diego was in the Mavericks inaugural season - Season 16.

Florida is trying to win its first playoff game since its last Championship appearance - Season 17 - and have suffered multiple recent heartbreakers on playoff exits. In Season 19, Cliff Allen hit a game-winning field goal to top Florida 36-35. In the Season 17 Championship, the Storm down five were chased down by the Vultures defense in the open field in the final seconds. While the Storm won three titles from Seasons 10-12, they are far removed from being the evil villain dynasty.

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 12, 6:30 PM ET: NO. 8 CANTON (8-5) AT NO. 3 ALAMO CITY (10-2)

On paper, these two teams have no idea who each other is. Canton, fresh off its historical shutout win over Vancouver last week, will be visiting the Artillery for the first time. The two met once in Season 20 when Alamo City pulled out a 20-13 win on the road, one of Canton's five home losses ever. Dig into the rosters and there is a little more familiarity with these two teams than on first glance.

Kendra Wells, wide receiver for Alamo City, played for Canton last season. She may, at times, be defended by Canton defensive back Evan Lacey, who previously played for the Alamo City franchise when they were known as Lone Star. Alamo City's William Davidson used to own London, a former division rival of the Classics. 

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 12, 9:00 PM ET: NO. 5 ARIZONA (10-3) at no. 4 baltimore (9-3)

These two teams may know each other better than any other. A rematch of the last two SFL Championships, Arizona will either snap Baltimore's Championship winning streak at four or will exit the postseason by way of Baltimore for the third-consecutive season. Arizona got the better of the Vultures only once - a 35-32 triumph back in Season 18. 

Baltimore is 74-9 all-time at home and is 4-0 all-time against the Scorpions at Sports Gamers Online Stadium. Arizona's won five in a row, Baltimore six in a row coming in to this matchup. The Scorpions are No. 1 in rushing yards per game (233.1), 3rd down conversion % (72.57), redzone touchdowns (39) and yards per carry allowed (3.9). Baltimore is tops in 1st downs (21.5) and total offense (458.9) and sports the second most rush yards per game (221.0).
