Mart helps Artillery hold off Toros

by Cameron Irvine

Week 1 of Season 22 ended with the first Monday Night Spectacular of the season and the Week 14 rematch from last season lived up to the hype. Alamo City won the turnover battle 4-0 helping the Artillery to prevail 29-21, handing Fort Worth its first regular season loss in the 4K23 era.

Linebacker Jay Mart had two of the four interceptions, matching the two INTs he had against the Toros in their previous meeting. Fort Worth failed to convert a 4th-and-inches at the ACA 3 and then Alamo City converted a 4th-and-1 on their own 13 in the final minutes of the game to help seal the win.

Four different receivers in the game had over 100 yards: Fort Worth's Stephen Hacker (10 rec, 171 yds, 2 TD) and EJ Mincin (8 rec, 155 yds, 1 TD); Alamo City's Vin Calia (9 rec, 197 yds, 1 TD) and Yayo Montana (5 rec, 110 yds). The Toros Marcus Dunhill threw for a SFL season-high 423 yards in the loss.

Seattle (1-0) will visit Baltimore (0-1) in next week's Monday Night Spectacular.
